Be-Jewelled (Degree Show)

Home has become fashion’ Rosita Missoni

A bespoke collection of fabrics, driven from the beauty of jewels. Incorporating an exciting fusion of innovative yarns such as wires, beads and ribbons, this collection is intended for the elaborate and richly decorated rooms, where the fabrics can catch the glisten of light.

The theme of jewellery is driving and developing my designing and ideas, and is the key element to the whole of my project. Not only has it aided me with drawings and compositions, but it has also helped with selecting yarns and structures to use.  I am aimed to create fabrics that help finish a room to the highest of standards and added that key element of glamour, similarly to that of a piece of jewellery to an outfit.

Throughout these weaves i have included jewellery, which has been re-used and donated for me to use within my weaves.   Specific lifting plans that I have experimented with previously have created chain effects to reflect compositions used within my initial drawings. I have also taken on a lifting plan, Twill, which runs through all my weaves, and also reflects the chaining of jewellery in my drawings. The Till pattern has given each fabric a key similarity running through them, to help them work together as a collection
